Our Team

Colt Fetters & Mark Gomez

Colt and Mark have been riding bikes together for close to 10 years. It all started in a small little cycling community of Auburn, Alabama. They started the first gravel race in AL, the Standard Deluxe Dirt Road Century in an effort to build more of a cycling community in Central Alabama. Colt has since moved on to Durango, CO where he has since worked as an outdoor educator, photographer, and marketing guy. Mark is the brains of the operation, based in Birmingham, he works in logistics for what Colt understands as some kind of tech startup.

How its made.

It starts from the finest U.S.-made titanium tubes on the market. Cold worked stress received grade 9 tubing milled in the USA to Aerospace hydraulic specs.

Then we use one of the finest titanium welders in the country, he happens to be based here in Durango, CO. The frames are made in Durango by John Siegrist, an award winning welder with 30 years of experience. You might know him as the guy who started DEAN Bicycles in his garage in 1989.

Buena Onda effectively uses 4 local Durango, CO businesses to bring these bikes together. From our welder, local bike shop, and branding artist (Dryside Design Co.), to the guy who makes our vinyl masks, we’re trying to keep it local. Even our custom Buena Bars are bent just a few hours south in Albuquerque (Doom Bars).

Community Supported Bicycles

What the heck is that?

We’re so glad you asked.

Buena Onda is all about community. The bicycle community is about the strongest community we’ve ever known, especially here in our hometown of Durango. What we’re doing isn’t all that different than community-supported agriculture (CSA). Farmers need money to get started, so they sell their crops in advance. As for Buena Onda, we’ll be putting out small quantities of bikes every quarter. To get a bike, you’ll have to put down a deposit, then when the bikes are finished, we’ll send it to you. By supporting our brand via this ordering process, we’re offering low introductory pricing as a reward for helping us get off the ground.
